Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower
(东方明珠广播电视塔 dōng fāng miíng zhū)
Located alongside the Huangpu River, the 468-meter-tall Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower is the best place for tourists to get an overall view of the metropolis of Shanghai.
The second highest TV and radio tower in China provides 360-degree views of the city from the top sphere, also known as the "space cabin", which is 351 meters above ground.
The upper sphere, at 259 meters, consists of the tallest glass-floored observatory in the world and the famous revolving restaurant where visitors can enjoy the marvelous city scenery while dining.
The lower sphere at 90 meters offers visitors virtual reality (VR) roller coaster experiences and dynamic ring multimedia shows. The Municipal History Museum sits at the tower’s pedestal.
There are double-decker elevators that can take visitors up and down between different spheres. The whole tower is an amazing combination of traditional Chinese aesthetics, modern architectural designs, urban sightseeing and recreational activities.
As a landmark and one of the hottest tourist destinations in Shanghai, the tower is among the Top 10 New Landscapes of Shanghai and China's first batch of national 5A tourist spots.
