Shenzhen Export Processing Zone
Shenzhen Export Processing Zone is located in the northeast of Shenzhen, Guangdong province, and was established with the approval of the State Council in April 2000 with an area of 3 square kilometers. It sits with a three-dimensional network of air, land and sea traffic, as it is near the Shenzhen Bao'an Airport, Yantian International Container Terminals and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway.
The processing zone is committed to developing high-tech industries and modern logistics. Their official statistics show that investors from 22 countries and regions have invested in the processing zone, covering the fields of microelectronics, computers and spare parts, optical communication components, biomedical engineering, etc.
It enjoyed a fast growth in its early years as by the end of March 2005, a total of 45 projects from home and abroad had launched in the processing zone, including internet technology (IT), electronics, home appliances, watches, hardware, furniture and other industries. Total investment was up to $663 million and the total output value was expected to hit 40 billion yuan ($5.75 billion).
The processing zone is now a special area supervised by Customs with the most favorable customs tariff, the fastest customs clearance, and the most convenient management.
