Qinghai Lake scenic area, located in the northeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is 136 kilometers from Qinghai’s capital city, Xining.
Qinghai Lake was listed as a national 5A-level scenic area in 2011. As the country's largest inland lake and its largest salt water lake, Qinghai Lake covers 4,456 square kilometers.
The scenic area has four main attractions: Er’langjian scenic area, Birds Island, Sand Island and Fairy Bay (Xiannv Wan).
An around-the-lake cycling competition is held every July, a time when the lake looks its best.

Note:
1. Birds Island and Sand Island are not open to public in peak season in 2018.
2. Hats, sunglasses, long-sleeve shirts and sun cream are recommended for your visit to Qinghai Lake as the ultraviolet rays are very strong.
