Lianzhou Underground River, Qingyuan

Lianzhou Underground River, known as the first underground river in Guangdong province, is located 26 kilometers northeast of Lianzhou, an ancient historical and cultural city. Famous for its mysterious, magnificent stalactites and the underground cave river, it became a national 5A-level attraction in 2011. It is a typical giant limestone cave with the subtropical karst landform.
The scenic spot is divided into two parts: a karst cave and the underground river. The cave covers an area of 100,000 square meters, 60,000 sq m of which can be accessed by tourists. The highest point is 47.8 meters, the widest point is 53.6 meters and the total length is 1500 meters. It is a perfect summer resort as the temperature in the cave stays between 18-22 C all year round and the humidity is in the range of 96-98 percent.
The scenic area lies in a cave on a high mountain with three layers. The upper and middle layers are on land with innumerable, colorful stalactites. The bottom is the underground river going through three beautiful canyons and four hills.
