Location: Beijing lies on the north end of the North China Plain that is surrounded by mountains to its west, north and northeast. To its southeast is a plain that slopes gradually to Bohai Sea.
Economy
As Beijing further adjusts its economic structure, relocates non-capital functions and continues efforts to establish a high-grade, precision and advanced economic structure, Beijing has seen stable economic operation and high-quality development in recent years.
Beijing's GDP was estimated at more than 3 trillion yuan (around $444 billion) in 2018, making it the second Chinese city crossing this threshold following Shanghai.
In addition, Beijing set its economic growth target at 6 to 6.5 percent for 2019, compared with last year's target of about 6.5 percent.

There are 16 districts under Beijing's administration, including Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, Haidian, Fengtai, Shijingshan, Mentougou, Tongzhou, Shunyi, Daxing, Pinggu, Fangshan, Changping, Huairou, Miyun and Yanqing.
