The copyright register increased rapidly. The total number of copyright registrations increased 36.86% and reached 27.447 million. Among them, 2.01 million works were registered with an increase of 25.15%, the number of computer software copyright registrations reached 745.3 million, 82.79% more than last year.
People's courts opened 170 cases of copyright infringement, 17.87% less than 2016. National procuratorate arrested 115 people in 67 cases for copyright infringement and prosecuted 156 cases involving 272 persons.
Copyright law enforcement regulatory departments checked 630,000 websites, closed 2554 infringing websites, deleted 710,000 infringing links, confiscated 2.76 million infringing products and investigated 543 cases of internet infringement. Fifty-four criminal cases involving 107,000,000 yuan were investigated and punished by police and law enforcement departments.
Copyright law enforcement regulatory departments also inspect 3.32 million companies, received more than 15,000 complaints, filed and investigated over 43,700 cases. Among them, more than 55,900 disputes were settled, more than 414,000 companies were warned, fines of more than 180 million yuan were levied, and 4,525 companies were ordered to be shut down.
Moreover, publicity about copyright protection had been also well organized. The National Copyright Administration held six press conferences and participated in a press conference of the State Council. The administration published 1275 informational reports through new media to expand attention to copyright issues.
