Yangtai airport transport capacity expanded

The grading of the Yangzhou Taizhou International Airport, short for Yangtai airport, has been officially promoted from 4C to 4E class, the airport authorities said Tuesday. 

The announcement came after the Civil Aviation Administration of China's East China Regional Administration granted it the new operating license. 

The 4E class means that the airport has had the capacity to accommodate the landing and take-off of long-range wide-body four-engine aircraft, such as Boeing 747 and Airbus A340. 

With an investment of 560 million yuan ($81.3 million), its expansion, completed in October, has seen an extended runway of 3,600 meters along with numerous upgraded supporting facilities.
