The timber production of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region reached 30.59 million cubic meters in 2017, producing more than 40 percent of the country's wood despite having only 5 percent of the country's forests.
Guangxi is an important forestry province and region in China with abundant resources. The annual timber output of the whole region has remained stable at more than 25 million cubic meters for many years.
The total forest area in Guangxi has reached more than 16 million hectares, near the top in the country; the area of planted forests accounts for about 1/10 of the country, ranking top nationally, and the output of wood-based panels accounts for about 1/8 of the total, ranking third in the country.
"In 2017, the total output value of the forestry industry in Guangxi reached 522.6 billion yuan, an average annual increase of 24.1 percent over the past five years," said Deng Jianhua, deputy director of the Department of Forestry of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Based on the cultivation of forest resources, Guangxi is actively expanding its agriculture, forestry commerce, forestry logistics and finance service industries in order to achieve coordinated and sustainable development of the forestry industry chain.
In addition, Guangxi also vigorously promotes the adjustment of tree species in ecologically important areas, implementing the pilot project of artificial pure forest transformation and developing characteristic economic forestry.
The proportion of native tree species, precious tree species and mixed forests in Guangxi's key ecological projects has increased from 10 percent to more than 80 percent.
