It is estimated that, by the end of this year, the total mileage of rural roads in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will exceed 100,000 kilometers and cover 80 percent of the region, according to a press conference held by Guangxi Government Information Office.
In recent years, Guangxi has issued a series of policies to address the shortcomings of rural infrastructure, including increasing capital investment and forming a rural road management system with counties (districts) as the main body of responsibility.
The county-level administrative districts of 14 districts and cities have set up rural road management institutions, and actively carried out demonstration county building activities to promote the development of rural road construction.
Since the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020), Guangxi has arranged a total of 23.44 billion yuan ($3.38 billion) for rural road construction.
As of October 2018, Guangxi has invested a total of 15.54 billion yuan in 18,515 kilometers of newly renovated mileage and 4,215 kilometers of hardened road mileage in villages.
At present, all counties have built level-two or above passenger stations, and 69.6 percent of townships have built passenger stations.
Guangxi is striving to improve rural bus coverage and rural passenger transport services forming the rural road passenger transport network system.
As of August 2018, all 1,118 towns in Guangxi have had access to shuttle buses or buses, and the rate of access to passenger cars in villages reached 97.6 percent.
According to the planning goals, by 2020, the rate of access to hardened roads and passenger cars in Guangxi's villages will reach 100 percent.
In addition, Guangxi will complete the key safety hazard management of the county and township roads. The one-time pass rate of the new rural road construction project will reach 98 percent while the rural road maintenance rate will reach 100 percent.
