The WIPO-NCAC Copyright Awards program is the result of the cooperation between the National Copyright Administration of the People’s Republic of China (NCAC) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This biennial award is the only international award and the highest accolade in the copyright sector in China.
Its precursor was the WIPO Creativity Award (China), which was held in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2015. It has presented awards to 55 copyright-related companies, organizations and copyright holders, garnering global attention and receiving active responses.
In December 2015, NCAC and the WIPO signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Further Strengthening the Bilateral Cooperarion between the WIPO and the NCAC(the “MOU”), bringing their close cooperation to a new height. Under the MOU, the WIPO-NCAC Copyright Awards is incorporated into long-term cooperation projects between the two, to introduce an effective incentive to the industry and maximize the demonstration effect.
The WIPO-NCAC Copyright Awards 2016 consists of Creativity Award, Award for Copyright Utilization, Award for Copyright Protection, and Award for Copyright Administration Management, all of which celebrate the achievements of individuals and entities in the four sectors.
