Five cities--Wuhan, China; Milan, Italy; Guadalajara, Mexico; Mezitli, Turkey; and New York City, United States were announced as the winners of the 2018 Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (Guangzhou Award).

The award ceremony was held on Dec 7 at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center after 15 shortlisted cities presented their initiatives to an international audience during the International Seminar on Learning from Urban Innovation on Dec 6. The Jury made their final decision on these five cities and initiatives:

In addition to the five winners, the Indonesian city of Surabaya claimed the title of "Online Popular City" with its "Public Participatory in 3R Waste Management for Better Surabaya" initiative.
