The world is full of mystery. If you want to explore the secrets of the world, then Shanghai Science and Technology Museum could be a great day out for you, a place where you will find an abundance of fascinating exhibits and information that are both educational and entertaining.

Whether young or old, you will find things that intrigue you at the museum’s 13 permanent exhibitions and various temporary exhibits.

At the Spectrum of Life, you can experience the natural landscape of China’s Yunnan province, encompassing amphibians and reptiles, various insects and a tropical forest, as well as displays of the genetic makeup of different species.

The Earth Exploration display through various forms of media presents the movement and structure of the Earth. The Cradle of Designers allows visitors to use CAD/CAM software to design and build small objects.

Children's Rainbow Land is especially for visitors aged between 1 and 12 who can have a lot of fun while learning about science. The Light of Wisdom explains scientific phenomena in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology.

The Home on Earth exhibition illustrates the importance of sustainable development by presenting ecological disasters, the evolution of Suzhou Creek, and environmental knowledge.

The Information Era examines the application of information technology, such as voice recognition and virtual reality, in daily life through interactive activities. The World of Robots allows visitors to interact with robots.

Light of Exploration showcases some of the greatest scientific achievements of the 20th century such as Thomas Hunt Morgan’s fruit fly experiment and Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity.

The Human and Health display introduces the definition, methods, and recommended lifestyles for keeping fit through sports activities and videos. Space Navigation introduces information about the wonders of space by displaying related scientific devices, models of rockets, spaceships and satellites, and astronaut suits.

The World of Animals uses multimedia tools and vivid animal specimens to show visitors how animals across the globe adapt to different environments. The Spiders Exhibition presents an array of weird and wonderful spiders from all over the world.

There are also four science-themed theaters: the IMAX 3D Theater, the IMAX Dome Theater, the IWERKS Theater and the Space Theater. They constitute the largest science educational cinema complex in Asia, with 10,000 show times every year.

The design of the museum building conveys a special meaning. It is an ascending spiral rising five floors, which is intended to symbolize scientific and technological progress. The enormous glass sphere at its center denotes the rise of life out of water.
