On Dec 1, the closing day of the G20 Summit held in Buenos Aires, the largest news portal in Argentina and largest app platform in South America, Infobae, reported on the ecological environment in Southwest China's Guizhou province.

According to the article, Guizhou, known as China's green corridor and big data valley, has seen great economic and social transformation in recent decades thanks to green development policies.

In 2017, Guizhou attracted 744 million tourists, which contributed over $110 billion to the local economy, an increase of 40 percent compared with 2016, and helped over 500,000 local people overcome poverty.

Based on the green economy, Guizhou's GDP increased 10.2 percent in 2017 compared with 2016. With a forest coverage rate of 55.3 percent and a good air quality rate of 97 percent, the ecological environment in Guizhou is superior to most coastal places in China.

The magnificent mountain landscape and rich ethnic culture provide Guizhou a unique advantage in ecological civilization construction, and direct a way of integrating agricultural development, green tourism and poverty alleviation.

The article elaborated on the detailed measures Guizhou has adjusted to suit local conditions. Cultivated lands with 15-degree slopes or less are used for high-efficient crop planting, such as vegetables, edible fungi and herbal medicines.

Cultivated lands with a slope between five and 25 degrees are used for the planting of tea, premium fruits, vegetables and herbal medicines. Cultivated lands with a slope of over 25 degrees are turned into fruit-bearing forests.

Together with ecological development and the big data industry, another hot topic in Guizhou is that the province has attracted foreign capital from the likes of Apple, Alibaba and Amazon, and thousands of other big data-related companies.

Being listed among the 52 Places to Go, as selected by the New York Times in 2016, Guizhou will likely appeal to many more tourists in the future.
