Dynamic Shenyang leads the way to a smart future

Conference welcomes experts to Chinese innovation hub.

A national guide released by the State Council in 2017 stated that China will form three to five internationally competitive internet platforms to serve industries by 2025, and Shenyang - a key heavy industrial base with equipment manufacturing as its focus - has been making significant contributions to reach that target.

One initiative the city government recently made: On Nov 3, it hosted the fifth China Smart City Innovation Conference, together with the Smart City Development Alliance and the China Center for Urban and Small Town Reform and Development at the National Development and Reform Commission.

Themed "Intelligent manufacturing, Smart governance", the conference held in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, gathered a group of experts, industry insiders and corporate representatives to discuss hot topics and upcoming trends in smart city development.

At the themed forum, Peng Zuowen, chief product officer of Youedata, a leading big data company headquartered in Beijing, released a big data service platform designed by the company for the equipment manufacturing industry.

Peng said the platform integrates the collection, sharing and analysis of big data, and can help raise the level of informationization, digitalization, intellectualization and innovation of the industry.

The company also intends to create a new model of transformation and upgrading for the industry, he added.

Youedata also attended a sub-forum organized by the city's Tiexi district government; it was the only corporate participant from the big data field. During the event, the inauguration of the company's equipment manufacturing big data research institute was held.

The institute, backed by the company's high-quality team of experts, will focus on the innovation of big data technologies and related industrial applications, aiming to become a think tank to lead the industrial development, said Duan Lixin, executive dean of the institute.

Liu Kewu, head of the district government, delivered a speech at the sub-forum, noting that Tiexi, which is home to over one thousand equipment manufacturing companies, will consider the industrial internet and big data as an indispensable part of new economic development.
