Yu Weiguo, secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Party Committee met with a delegation headed by Grace Fu Hai Yien, minister for Culture, Community and Youth of Singapore in Fuzhou, East China's Fujian province On Dec 2.
Yu welcomed their arrival on behalf of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government. He said that the traditional friendship between China and Singapore possesses a long history.
Singapore is an important node of the BRI while Fujian is the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. Both share common features in economy and culture, Yu said.
It is hoped that both sides take an active part in the construction of the BRI in accordance with the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries on deepening cooperation, thus promoting deeper and wider bilateral cooperation in areas such as FTZ construction, shipping, culture, tourism and youth interaction, he added.
Fu Hai Yien expressed her gratitude for the warm reception, adding that the delegation was deeply impressed by the excellent natural environment and rapid economic development in Fujian. In addition, she called for deeper communication in non-governmental activities and bilateral pragmatic cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and culture.
