As the 14th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) is around the corner, over 1,500 volunteers geared up for the international event with an oath-taking ceremony held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Nov 27.
The volunteers serving the tournament from Dec 11 to 16 were selected from 11 universities based in Zhejiang province, including Zhejiang University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Hangzhou Dianzi University and Zhejiang Gongshang University.
They will offer a wide range of voluntary services to guests during the event after relevant training, ranging from reception to drug-testing and transportation services, said a local official.
As the biggest international sports event that will have taken place in Hangzhou to date, the championships is expected to attract a total of 1,261 athletes from 178 countries and regions across the world, including 42 Chinese athletes.
