The first made in Shenyang robot guide used for replacing interpreters in museums has received great market feedback.
Robot guides Xiao’an and Xiaoquan are a joint effort by the Shenyang SIASUN Robot and Automation Co Ltd and Shenyang Shibotianyi Decorative Design Co.
SIASUN, a top 10 leading enterprise in Chinese robotics industry, undertakes research and manufacturing of the robot guide while Shenyang Shibotianyi Decorative Design Co is responsible for marketing and promotion.
The robot guides use speech and face recognition, language parsing, sound source positioning technologies and autonomous navigation technologies to provide services such as understanding user requests, providing consultation using an online database, and guiding visitors around the museums.
Visitor can communicate with them through voice commands or use the touch-screens on the robots to find information.
The robot Xiaoquan,130 cm tall and weighing 35 kg, is designed for adults, while the second robot guide, Xiao’an, 84cm tall and weighing 17kg, is specifically designated for kids.
“The robot guide is developed to cope with the increasing demands of interpreters in museums,” said Zheng Xiaolin, the director of Shenyang Shibotianyi Decorative Design Co. “A robot guide can handle the work load of three to five people, helping save high training and labor costs, ” Zheng added.
Currently, several robot guides have been put into use in Binzhou Civil Air Defense Science Education Experience Center and Shenyang Civil Air Defense Education Center, receiving great feedback from customers.
The second half of 2018 saw 20 robot guides delivered, according to Zheng.
