The 8th Ulaanqab Potato Exhibition Fair was held at Ji'ning, Ulaanqab, a city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Nov 28.
At the signing ceremony, cooperative agreements totaling a value of 158 million yuan ($22.72 million) and related to potatoes and other agricultural and livestock products were signed.
As "the potato capital of China", the cultivated areas of Ulaanqab’s potatoes are stable at about 400 million mu (26.7 million hectares), with an annual output of over 4.5 million tons of fresh potatoes that account for 50 percent of Inner Mongolia’s cultivated potato area and output.

At present, potato cultivation has become Ulaanqab's leading industry and the city has formed an industrialized management pattern of potato breeding, base construction, storage and processing, said Wang Guoxiang, vice-mayor of Ulaanqab. He added that the potato exhibition fair has been held for eight years and Ulaanqab will strive to make its potato brand more renowned, transforming the brand advantage into economic advantage.
