Cixi, a county-level city of Ningbo, took sixth position in the 2018 Top 100 Chinese Industrial Counties list recently released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
Meanwhile, among all the counties in Zhejiang province that were listed, Cixi enjoyed the highest ranking.
Official statistics show that Cixi realized industrial added value of over 42.5 billion yuan ($6.1 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, up 8.9 percent year-on-year, with that of companies with main business revenue of 20 million yuan or above reaching nearly 23.9 billion yuan, up 8.5 percent from a year earlier.
Industrial investment in the county totaled nearly 5.2 billion yuan during the period, up 14.1 percent on a year-on-year basis, and 13 percent higher than the average level of the city.
Emerging industries and the internet were the main drivers, as the county witnessed added values of high-tech, information-based, and strategic emerging industries topping 13.2 billion yuan, 3.1 billion yuan and 3.1 billion yuan, respectively, up 9.8 percent, 10.8 percent and 14.2 percent year-on-year, respectively.
The Top 100 Chinese Industrial Counties list is released annually by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. Initiated in 2015, it is the fourth time that the list has been released.
