Ningbo to open new general hospital

A new general hospital will enter trial operation at the Hangzhou Bay New Area, Ningbo in December. 

The Ningbo Hangzhou Bay Hospital was co-established by the Renji Hospital attached to the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Ningbo No.2 Hospital, and the administrative committee of the Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Zone, which means that high-quality medical resources from Renji and Ningbo No.2 hospitals will also be available there.

The hospital has received the highest investment, at 1.45 billion yuan ($20.9 million), among all the hospitals in the city. 

Constructed according to the standards for a Grade A, Class 3 hospital (the highest level of hospital in China), it is designed to have 1,200 beds, and integrate disease prevention and control, maternal and pediatric health care, emergency treatment and sanitation supervision.

It will offer 600 beds, 23 wards, 33 outpatient departments, and 16 emergency departments during the early opening period, with a focus on developing the gastroenterology, nephrology, urology, rheumatology, neurosurgery, gynaecology & obstetrics, orthopedics and general surgery departments. 

In addition, 71 doctors from Renji Hospital will be sent to the hospital, together with over 100 medical experts from the Ningbo No.2 Hospital.
