Changchun, the capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province, has been working hard to improve and enhance local residents' well-being over the past three years.

A project aiming at increasing the income of both urban and rural residents, which was launched by the municipal government in 2016, has paid off with fruitful results, according to a press conference on Nov 21.
A total of 9.66 million local residents are expected to benefit from the project directly or indirectly in 2018, up 8.2 percent compared to 2017, generating a total revenue of 7.06 billion yuan ($1.01 billion).

"By improving the quality of employment, encouraging entrepreneurial innovation, stimulating the innovative vitality of talents, expanding income channels and raising the level of social security, the project carried out 45 items of work across five aspects," explained Zhang Yinhong, deputy director of Changchun Municipal Employment Bureau.
Statistics show that Changchun's employment rate has hit a record high, with more than 124,300 new jobs created since the start of the year.
