Xiaoshan, one of the economically developed districts in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, is making the digital economy a top priority for the district's future development, according to a conference held on Nov 21.
The Digital Economy Development Conference of Xiaoshan district, with government officials and leading representatives from prestigious companies and research institutions gathering to share ideas on promoting the digital transformation of traditional industries, outlines that the aggregate of the district's information economy and digital economy would surpass 120 billion yuan ($17.3 billion) and 72 billion yuan respectively by 2022.
Xiaoshan District will ramp up efforts to build digital economic development platforms and advance the organic integration of the digital economy with traditional industries, in a bid to become a pioneer in the city's efforts to lead the country's digital economy, said Tong Guili, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hangzhou Committee and secretary of the CPC Xiaoshan District Committee.
Over the years, new breakthroughs have been made in the district's digital economy, with digital giants including NetEase, SenseTime and iFLYTEK clustering in Xiaoshan along with an array of tech rising stars and research institutes.
The China V Valley (V stands for Visual, Vision, Video) project, focusing on computer vision and machine vision technology, was launched at the conference and settled in Qianjiang Century City of Xiaoshan.
Aiming to building world-class vision industry clusters, the valley will develop a sound industry chain ecology covering algorithms, chips and creative applications by combining talent, data and capital resources in the district.
