The park covers 45 square kilometers, including 42.5 sq km of forest and 2.2 sq km of water. The coverage rate of natural forests in primeval state is as high as 97.5 percent. The highest concentration of negative oxygen ions in the scenic area reaches more than 100,000 per cubic centimeter.
The complex structure of flora and rich species of fauna in the park make it a natural biological gene pool and an important ecological barrier in East China.
There are 26 species of amphibians, 51 species of reptiles, 104 species of birds, and 58 species of mammals living in the park. Various kinds of national Grade I protected animals also found there, including white-necked long-tailed pheasants, tufted deer and clouded leopards.
