Baogang Wankai Modern Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Co opened an unmanned store in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to a Nov 19 Baotou Evening News report. The new store is the first of its kind in the region.
Located in a popular shopping center in Qingshan district, the 100-square-meter store is equipped with the latest unmanned store technologies including facial recognition systems and an automated billing system.
Domestic technologies are giving shopping a digital touch; customers can easily pick up whatever they want and walk straight out of the store without any delay, such as needing to queue to make a payment.
The new store offers an expanded product selection including food, beverages, and daily necessities.
Customers first need to add their identity and payment information using the facial recognition system powered by the cameras installed in the store. After registration, customers can then select goods and view real-time price information displayed on the electronic price tags. All of the products have a QR code on the price tag. Payment is simple, thanks to mobile payment technology.
