China National Offshore Oil Cooperation (CNOOC) started to deliver natural gas from Guangdong province to users in North China on Nov 15 through the West–East Gas Pipeline II, a set of natural gas pipelines running from Khorgas in Northwestern Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province. Deliveries will be on-going until spring of next year.

CNOOC has made great efforts to ensure access to natural gas in China's north areas through connecting the infrastructure facilities in Guangdong province since the beginning of 2018.

Until the spring of next year, CNOOC will increase gas transmission by about 1.8 billion cu m, accounting for 60 percent of all natural gas that the company provides through the project of connecting infrastructure facilities.

The volume of natural gas going to North China from the south increased to 30 million cu m per day from 6.25 million cu m. Eighty percent of the natural gas provided to North China is used in a clean energy heating system.

Despite the rising costs of liquid natural gas (LNG) in the international market, CNOOC brought seven more ships of LNG and delivered them to LNG stations; the supply will meet all heating needs for this winter.

In the beginning of November, the east area of the South China Sea produced natural gas of 190 million cu m and CNOOC plans to supply gas of 6.4 billion cu m this winter and next spring, up 21 percent year-on-year.

CNOOC cooperated with PetroChina and other companies to build a system to guarantee natural gas supply.

CNOOC sold 6 million cu m of natural gas to PetroChina. It also opened an LNG station in Shenzhen to PetroChina and let the latter transmit 14 million cu m gas to supply its users in Shenzhen, Hong Kong and North China.

The Shenzhen LNG station of CNOOC finished three infrastructure projects on Oct 31, which will guarantee safe natural gas supply for Guangdong province and be an important channel for delivering South China's gas to northern regions.
