4. Fan Mingshu Tomb
Fan Mingshu Tomb, located at the southern foot of Mount Tai, was founded in 1950 commemorating the great revolutionary in modern times – Fan Mingshu (1866-1947).
Fan, born and growing up in Tai'an, studied in Japan, and committed himself to education after his returning to China and then devoted himself to the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45). In 1946, Fan joined the Communist Party of China at the age of 81.
The tomb, facing south, is composed of three parts, including stylobates, the burial chamber, and inscription tablets, covering a total area of 289 sq m. The tablets give a brief account of Fan's life and comments on his achievements, and eulogize Fan as an eternal teacher for people and his revolutionary spirits as immortal.
