National economic park of Xiqu Industrial Park: Guangzhou Bonded Zone
The Guangzhou Bonded Zone was established in May 1992 with the approval of the State Council. It covers an area of 1.4 square kilometers and was constructed in two phases. At present, it is equipped with complete service facilities, including: customs, commodity inspection office buildings, cargo inspection sites, dedicated terminals, factories, warehouses, storage yards, and exhibition halls.
Over the past 20 years, based on the special policies and functions of the special customs supervision area, it has cultivated four industrial clusters of processing, logistics, commerce and trade, and sale display areas:
There are 28 manufacturing companies which mainly produce and process information technology (IT), advanced lenses, heavy machinery, stainless steel, molds, grease, film, and medical supplies. Representative companies include First International Computer, Inc, Carl Zeiss Optical Technology (Guangzhou) Co, Ltd, Herrenknecht (Guangzhou) Tunnel Equipment Co, Ltd, and Outokumpu Stainless Steel International (Guangzhou) Co, Ltd.
There are 59 logistics and warehousing enterprises whose services include warehousing, loading and unloading, customs declaration, customs inspection, simple processing, road transportation, and domestic and international shipping. They mainly cover import and export and processing enterprises in the Development District and its surroundings. Representative companies are COSCO Shipping Corporation, COSCO-NYK Joint-venture Automobile Shipping Corporation, Guangzhou Datian Warehousing Group, Steinweg Logistics Corporation, and GLP (Guangzhou) Bonded Development Co, Ltd.
There are 440 commercial and trade enterprises, which are more than half of the enterprises in the District, and contribute 90 percent of its tax. The domestic invested enterprises are mainly small and medium-sized private companies. The foreign invested enterprises are mainly large and medium-sized Japanese-funded multinational trading companies mainly engaged in domestic trade, import and export trade and entrepot trade. Commercial and trade enterprises have adopted a mode of registration in the District and operation out of the District. Representative enterprises include Guangzhou Gome Electrical Appliance Co, Ltd, Toyota Tsusho (Guangzhou) Co, Ltd, Guangzhou Sumitomo Corporation, Honda Trading (Guangzhou) Co, Ltd, Mitsubishi Corporation (Guangzhou) Co, Ltd, Guangzhou Itochu Commercial Co, Ltd, Marubeni (Guangzhou) Trading Co, Ltd, Xianjin Guangzhou Bonded Area Trading Co, Ltd, Guangzhou Sanxing Products Trading Co, Ltd, and NESIC (Guangzhou) Co, Ltd.
There are 71 enterprises with sale displays, including 69 alcohol outlets. The products displayed for sale include imported liquor and precision machinery. The main display venues are the International Alcohol Trading Center and the Precision Machinery Exhibition Hall. Representative companies include Yamazaki Mazak Machine Tool (Guangzhou) Co, Ltd, Baoli Machinery Co, Ltd, Carlico Wine Corporation, Jointek Fine Wine Corporation, and Yujin Wine Corporation.
As of December 2017, the bonded zone (including the logistics park) had a total of 3,582 enterprises, including 791 foreign-invested ones. The accumulated foreign capital for contractual use was 1.13 billion US dollars; accumulated sales of commodities reached 292.4 billion yuan, and total industrial output value was 117.63 billion yuan. In 2017, the value of the goods imported to and exported from the bonded zone (including the logistics park) was 12.62 billion US dollars, the total import and export value was 3.08 billion US dollars, the sales of commodities was 30.72 billion yuan, and the total industrial output value was 5.07 billion yuan. Tax revenue was 956 million yuan.
