Newly opened high-speed railway boosts Zhanjiang job market

Zhanjiang's employment market is currently improving as a result of enhanced connectivity between cities due to the newly opened Jiangmen-Zhanjiang high-speed railway.

The 2019 Guangdong Graduate Job Fair (western Guangdong session) was held at Guangdong Ocean University on Nov 10 for the 13th consecutive year. More than 730 enterprises, over 150 of which were from outside the province, offered over 30,000 jobs, an increase of nearly 30 percent over last year.

The companies were from various sectors, including agriculture, forestry, engineering, finance, marketing, medicine, and education.

Most jobseekers were graduates of Guangdong Ocean University, Lingnan Normal University, Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology, Guangdong Institute of Arts and Sciences, and Maoming Vocational and Technical College.

With the opening of the high-speed railway, transportation is now more convenient and the flow of talents has been improved. More and more Zhanjiang natives are considering staying in their hometowns, as many out-of-towners plan to come to their cities for employment or entrepreneurship opportunities.

Almost one third of the approximately 60 resumes received by CR Land Zhanjiang Co Ltd were from Zhanjiang students studying in Pearl River Delta universities, according to an executive of the company.
