Gongshu district of Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, has introduced a series of favorable policies to attract more high-caliber overseas talents to settle in the district, according to a meeting held on Nov 12.
The ten policies, focusing on the areas of project grants, startup capital support, entrepreneurial services, housing security, healthcare insurances, are the first of its kind in the city aimed at making it easier for foreign talents to work in the district.
According to the policies, foreign-invested projects settling in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Park for International Talents will enjoy priority of district-level angel funds, and those entrepreneurial projects with total investment of over 10 million yuan ($1.44 million) are eligible to receive 0.5 percent financial support for each 10 million yuan.
Offsprings of the foreign talents can also study in international schools with subsidies on tuition fees.
Aside from the preferential policies, the meeting also witnessed the signing of 12 high-level overseas talent projects in the areas of information technology, biopharmaceutical, new material, and new energy, which are expected to inject new impetus to the hi-tech development of the district.
