Miss World 2018 launched in Sanya

Over 120 contestants from around the globe gathered in Sanya, Hainan province on Nov 12 to vie for the title of Miss World 2018, the 68th edition of the international beauty pageant.

At the launch ceremony, they wore the traditional costumes of their home countries and cordially interacted with the audience.

Lasting until Dec 8, this year's event includes a contestant meet-and-great, a Sanya featured scenic spot tour, the Top Model competition, a Haikou series of activities, a charitable activity and sports competitions.

Mao Peirui, this year's champion of the Chinese zone, is participating in the finals for China.

The Miss World pageant, created in 1951, is one of the oldest and most influential beauty pageants in the world. It is the eighth time that event has been held in Sanya.
