Harbin firms hunt for foreign deals in Shanghai

The government of Harbin held a meeting targeting foreign businesses on the sidelines of the first China International Import Expo at the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center, on Nov 7, in a bid to promote Harbin’s business advantages and attract investment.

A total of 44 business representatives from 13 countries and regions attended the promotion meeting, including those from Russia, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea.

Sun Ze, mayor of Harbin municipal government, introduced Harbin’s industrial advantages and development potential in areas such as agriculture, food processing, equipment manufacturing and tourism. Sun called for more foreign firms to consider Harbin when looking for business partners and investment opportunities.

On the same day, 10 Harbin firms signed 18 deals with foreign businesses in areas including food, electrical products and linen, with a signing ceremony hosted by Heilongjiang Provincial Government in Shanghai.

In addition, another 18 Harbin businesses signed import deals with eight countries, including Japan, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
