"Sharing is the key idea for Ningbo to enhance its economic internationalization and establish a new global supply chain where its firms play the leading role," said Zhang Yansheng, secretary general of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Academic Committee.
Zhang made the remarks at a forum on China's opening-up strategies held in Fenghua district, Ningbo, on Nov 9.
The 2018 China Opening-up Forum witnessed inspiring ideas from several senior State officials who agreed upon opening-up as the necessary strategy for Ningbo and the nation's future development.
"As one of China's first 14 coastal cities open to the outside world, Ningbo has opening-up in its 'genes', and is faced with many new and exciting opportunities in the new era," said Long Guoqiang, deputy director of the Development Research Center (DRC) of the State Council.
Wei Jianguo, vice president of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), further noted the advantages that the city enjoys in transportation, its private sector, talent pool, coastal location and culture.
"Ningbo possesses good transport links thanks to the high-speed railway that runs through the city, its highways and airport. It is one of China's earliest opening-up port cities and has the nation's earliest private companies. It also enjoys advantages in its brave and brilliant people, its location near Shanghai, and its profound culture," said Wei.
As for the development of the city's private companies, Wang Zhile, vice chairman of the National Corporate Compliance Committee of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), pointed out that private companies should stick to standard operations and management and observe related regulations.
There was also a roundtable meeting of global experts from the field of politics, academics and industries that day, some of who will permanently settle in the district and help build the city into an important global exchange platform for resources, funds and talents.
