Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Dereje Wordofa, deputy executive director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City on Oct 29.
The two sides exchanged views on topics such as strengthening cooperation in international development.
Wordofa outlined the duties and objectives of the UNFPA. He expressed his willingness to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with the CIDCA, and actively implement cooperation projects under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund to jointly implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Deng said that the CIDCA is willing to use the unique advantages of UNFPA and further strengthen cooperation to help women and adolescents in other developing countries achieve sustainable development goals. The UNFPA is welcome to participate in the application for South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund.
After the meeting, the two sides signed an agreement on the Sierra Leone Maternal Health and Cervical Cancer Prevention Project under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund.
