Guizhou sets 2025 target for development of big data industry

According to a seven-year plan for the innovative development of the service industry, the production value of the big data industry in Guizhou is expected to reach 1 trillion yuan ($144 billion) by 2025, which will make Guizhou a nationally influential big data innovation center.

Guizhou will form a coordinated big data industry ecosystem with data, technology, material, capital and talent resources.

Guizhou will optimize the government data resource integrating and sharing mechanism using the Guizhou-Cloud Big Data online platform to establish a province-wide government data sharing and exchange system.

Guizhou will also launch a data resource circulation and transaction project in order to become a major data resource trading center in the country.

In addition, Guizhou will continue to promote the application of intelligent technologies and equipment in the service arena by integrating big data with the manufacturing industry, agricultural industry and service industry and promoting its use in smart transportation, smart tourism and smart livelihood.

Guizhou will support the R&D of internet of things and AI core technologies and build an internet of things application platform concentrating on automobiles, commodities and talent transfer.

The establishment of an information platform for livelihood services will also be promoted in medicine, education and food security.

Companies are encouraged to expand the use of big data to prevent and resolve national problems, carry out targeted poverty alleviation and decrease pollution.

As the nation's first comprehensive test area, Guizhou's internet industry and related service industry increased by 75.2 percent and 18.1 percent, respectively, during the first three quarters of the year.

By 2020, Guizhou is expected to be a major industry base for data processing and analysis in south China and a major data exchange and trading center in the country.
