Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with UN Under-Secretary-General of Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock at UN Headquarters in New York on October 29.
The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the field of humanitarian assistance.
Deng introduced the overall situation of China's external humanitarian assistance and cooperation with UN agencies. He said that China is willing to strengthen exchanges with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), share experiences, address global humanitarian challenges, and jointly implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Lowcock outlined the work of the OCHA in mobilizing and organizing humanitarian relief operations, and stated that the OCHA is willing to explore cooperation with the CIDCA in humanitarian information sharing, search and rescue, and financing.
