Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Charlotte Petri Gornitzka at United Nations Headquarters in New York on Oct 29.
The two sides exchanged views on strengthening international development cooperation.
Deng expressed gratitude to UNICEF for its long-term assistance to China. He said that China and UNICEF have carried out tripartite cooperation under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund in recent years and achieved good results. The CIDCA is willing to work with UNICEF in the humanitarian and development fields to further the healthy growth of children around the world.
Gornitzka thanked China for its support of UNICEF's rescue activities and expressed her wish to establish a regular dialogue mechanism with the CIDCA to strengthen policy communication and expand the cooperation scale.
After the meeting, the two sides signed an agreement for eight maternal and child health projects implemented by UNICEF under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund.
