Conference promoting deepwater energy development held in Haikou

The Deepwater Energy Conference (DEC) 2018 was held at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Haikou on Nov 8 and 9.

Hundreds of government officials, experts, scholars and business leaders participated in this year's event.

Discussions and exhibitions were conducted concerning deepwater energy development engineering technology and equipment, deepwater energy exploration and exploitation, new types of ships and deep-sea platforms, deep-sea drilling and completion, and natural gas hydrate exploitation and development.

The DEC 2018 was jointly sponsored by the Hainan Provincial People's Government, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and China National Offshore Oil Corporation. Hainan's development and reform commission, industry and information technology, commerce, and trade promotion departments, as well as the Haikou municipal people's government, and Zhongchen Huaxin Energy Technology Co, Ltd, co-organized the event.

Conducted since 2015, DEC has become a preeminent platform with unrivalled opportunities for regional and international industry professionals to gather in one location and hear from leading government and industry officials about the latest regulations, rules and guidance.

Recent sessions have displayed technological innovations and major breakthroughs in domestic deepwater energy development, including deepwater space station technology, the applications of underwater robots, deep-sea floating LNG devices, installation technology of subsea trees in deep water gas fields, the drilling and testing of marine gas hydrate and manned deep-diving technology. The establishment of the China Marine Resources Development Strategy Research Center was also propelled forward.
