BGI Life and Health town

Located in southwest Fengqiao Street, Suzhou New District, the BGI Life and Health town has a planned area of 3.96 square kilometers, with 1.15 square kilometers designated for core activities.

Since Suzhou New District, BIG Gene, Vanke and Suzhou New District Hi-tech Industrial Co Ltd signed an agreement regarding the BIG life and health town on September 16, 2018, the construction of the town has accelerated as scheduled.

As planned, the town has parts for scientific research, fundamental equipment, talents and training, AI and big data, and innovation and entrepreneurship.

The BGI Life and Health town will gradually build a park (a life and health industrial park), an area (an agricultural demonstration area), two institutes (a research institute and a postgraduate institute), and three centers (for cellular studies, health and data).

The town plans to construct a healthy life area driven by local industries, including a medical health industrial park, a medium and high end residence, scientists’ apartments, a future genetic studies college and an exhibition complex for genetic science conventions. It is predicted that 120 companies will settle there after construction is completed.

The biomedical industrial park, scientists’ apartments, scientific innovation offices and genetic science areas are expected to become parts of an industrial chain for industries, universities and research institutes.

A sports park will be situated near the main axis of the town, providing a sports and leisure venue for a large residential area. The main axis itself will be river-shaped and will constitute a local attraction. In addition, Gaojing Mountain and Tianping Mountain will be reconnected after ecological restoration, to constitute a Gaojing Mountain ecological park.
