A total of 12 international students from Zambia started their three-year long university life at Harbin Vocational and Technical College in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province on Oct 30.
The Zambian students were selected from 35 applicants based on their performances on the interview and other people's recommendations.
They are the first batch of international students to receive education at Heilongjiang’s vocational colleges.
During the three-year period, they will study technical knowledge related to mechatronics.
To welcome the international students, Harbin Vocational and Technical College has renovated the international students dormitory during the summer holidays and prepared living and school supplies with English specifications, in a bid to help them remove language barriers.
As a college carrying out the “Go Out” Strategy, Harbin Vocational and Technical College has been sending teachers to Zambia for three consecutive years, undertaking the technical training of Chinese employees working in the non-ferrous metal industry in Zambia, especially in electrical and welding fields.
