A press conference for the first Inner Mongolia International Horse Culture Expo was held in Beijing, on Nov 2.
The press conference was hosted by the Party Publicity Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and organized by Hohhot Party committee and municipal government.
In attendance were Bai Yugang, director of the regional Party Publicity Department and Zheng Futian, vice-chairman of the regional committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, as well as officials and journalists based both in Beijing and Inner Mongolia, along with over 160 representatives from national equestrian clubs.
According to information released at the press conference, the first horse culture expo in the region is scheduled to begin on Aug 18, 2018 and conclude on Aug 28, with Hohhot, capital of the autonomous region serving as the main venue. Xiliinhot will also serve as a venue for some of the events.
The expo will see forums, opening and closing ceremonies, competitive events, cultural performances and movie screenings taking place, with the organizers hoping to promote the event to an international audience.
Horses in Inner Mongolia symbolize diligence, perseverance, courage, loyalty and kindness, explained Wang Jiping, deputy mayor of Hohhot.
And Wang Xuefeng, director of Hohhot publicity department, pointed out that Inner Mongolia with its vast grasslands has had a long history in the development of equestrian sports, and that the expo would hopefully increase the region’s influence in horse events.
