Brief introduction to Jinpu New Area
The establishment of Jinpu New Area was approved by the State Council in 2014, representing the country's 10th national-level new area and the only one in Liaoning province.
The area has been in the forefront of reform and opening-up in Dalian, with some functional zones being established in the district, including a high-tech development zone, an export processing zone, a national tourist resort, and a bonded area.
It is also seen as a frontier for the transformation of development modes for old industrial bases, a demonstration area for institutional innovation, a leader in a new type of urbanization and urban-rural development, as well as an international shipping and logistics center in Northeast Asia.
The area is currently home to more than 60,000 companies, of which more than 5,000 are foreign-funded, including more than 60 Fortune 500 companies.
It has formed an industrial system featuring equipment manufacturing, petrochemicals, electronic information, auto and parts, port logistics, new materials and tourism.
In the first half of 2018, Jinpu New Area achieved a regional GDP of 100.54 billion yuan ($14.55 billion), accounting for 28.6 percent of Dalian's total.
From January to August this year, the zone's total output value of industrial enterprises above designated size (annual main business income exceeding 20 million yuan) reached 206.66 billion yuan, representing 52.2 percent of Dalian's total.
