Tong'an to be fitness equipment manufacturing national base

Tong'an district from Xiamen, Fujian province has been approved as a national base for foreign trade transformation and upgrading due to its prosperous fitness equipment manufacturing sector, it was announced at the recent 2018 Internet Plus Expo held in Guangdong province.

The Xiamen district has long been known as a national hub for China's fitness equipment manufacturing sector.

As early as 2015, the district became the only national demonstration area for the quality and safety of exported fitness equipment.

By the end of 2017, Tong'an was home to more than 90 fitness equipment manufacturing companies with a total output value of 8 billion yuan ($1.15 billion), five of which have been recognized as a China Famous Brand and Fujian Famous Brand.

A spokesman for the district's commerce bureau said that the recent identification will encourage the district's companies to develop more smart fitness equipment by utilizing the latest technologies, such as electronics, big data and cloud computing.

Launched in 2017, China's top commerce bureau has identified 255 national bases for foreign trade transformation and upgrading.
