Dalian Laodong Park is the biggest park in downtown Dalian, Liaoning province, covering 1.02 million square meters. It is the favorite park of local residents.
The park was initially built in 1898 when the city came under the territorial control of Russia. After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the government encouraged local citizens to voluntarily make improvements in the park and renamed the park Laodong Park (laodong means "labor" in Chinese).
Many city landmarks are located in the park, including Dalian sightseeing tower, Dalian Century Warehouse, a football-shaped art museum and a giant historic blessing bell.
Ginkgo trees at the park attract many visitors every autumn.
