Dalian reports steady Jan-Sept economic growth

Dalian, in Northeast China's Liaoning province, saw steady economic growth from January to September 2018, according to the city's bureau of statistics.

According to preliminary calculations, the total GDP of the city in the first three quarters reached 547.53 billion yuan ($78.6 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6.5 percent.

The added value of the primary industry was 32.2 billion yuan, up 4.2 percent year-on-year; the added value of the secondary industry was 219.36 billion yuan, up 12.2 percent, and the tertiary industry 295.98 billion yuan, up 2.3 percent.

The agricultural sector saw steady growth in the first three quarters, and the added value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery and service industries in the city was 35.13 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.5 percent – 0.1 percent higher than the province's figure.

Dalian leads industrial transformation and upgrading in the province. The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size (annual main business income exceeding 20 million yuan) increased by 15.9 percent year-on-year.

In the nine months, the added value of the service sector in the city saw a year-on-year increase of 2.3 percent.

In addition, foreign trade saw better than expected growth. The city’s total import and export volume in the nine months was 340.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.6 percent. Imports were 202.72 billion yuan, up 10.6 percent, and exports were 137.78 billion yuan, up 5.5 percent.

Fiscal revenues maintained a high growth rate. The city's general public budget revenue was 55.56 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.6 percent.

And residents' incomes grew rapidly, with the average per capita disposable income of urban residents being 32,555 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.8 percent.
