A group of British judges led by Lord Hodge, a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, visited the Shanghai Financial Court on Oct 26.
They toured the court's information center, lawsuit service center, and technical area, and then attended a roundtable conference to exchange ideas on resolving financial disputes.
Zhao Hong, president of the Shanghai Financial Court, briefly introduced the court and said that it is willing to work with its British counterparts to improve and develop international financial laws and rules, and to create a more just, equal, and orderly financial legal environment.
Lord Hodge said that the group had gained a better understanding of Shanghai's and China's judicial reform and how financial disputes are processed through the visit.
He emphasized that China and the UK will strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the resolution of financial disputes to contribute to steady development of the global financial sector.
The Shanghai Financial Court started operation on Aug 20 this year. It specializes in finance-related lawsuits and is the first of its kind in China. It is meant to provide a better business environment for investors from home and abroad.
