More than 60 foreigners in Changsha took part in a cultural event centered around the theme of "Changsha in the eyes of foreigners" in Tongguan old town on Oct 27.
The event showcased Changsha's development and achievements in literary and artistic heritage and innovation, ecological protection and rural construction, by connecting local culture, ceramic art, and modern science and technology.
More than 60 foreigners working and living in Changsha were invited to Tongguan old town in Changsha to visit ceramics museums and see Hunan embroidery, ancient coins and robots to learn more about the region's intangible cultural heritages and technological innovation. Wonderful performances and 5D films were also available for them to get to know about the development of modern technology in Changsha. The event was held by the publicity department of Changsha municipal Party committee, the foreign and overseas affairs office of Changsha municipal people's government, and Changsha Evening Press Group. The themed event has been carried out since 2005, with more than 3,000 foreigners taking part over 14 years.
Hans Ackermann, a German who lived in Changsha for 13 years, said that he has participated in the event about 10 times and always finds new experiences and insights. Usmanov Mukhiddin, a student from Uzbekistan, said that the event helped him better fit in with the city.
