Xiamen has a great cooperation potential with the United States in trade, culture and tourism, Han Jingyi, deputy mayor of Xiamen, said during a meeting with the newly-appointed consul general of the United States in Guangzhou on Oct 26.
Han said that Xiamen is a famous tourist city in China with beautiful scenery.
Besides, as one of the four major international shipping centers in China, Xiamen houses 143 sea routes reaching more than 50 countries and regions and 182 air routes leading to 26 foreign cities and the China (Xiamen) - Europe trains have access to 13 cities in nine countries.
The deputy mayor hopes that the consul general's trip in the city will further promote the two sides' exchanges and cooperation in the above three fields.
James Levy, consul general of the United States in Guangzhou, promised to get further understanding of the Chinese city and conduct more exchanges activities between the two sides during his time in office.
The consul general also visited the US companies in Xiamen, the Xiamen Cross-Border E-commerce Park - part of the Amazon Global Selling program, and Gulangyu Island.
