The 2019 Jinmen Marathon will begin to accept online registration from 6pm on Oct 31, according to a press conference held in Xiamen, Fujian province on Oct 27.
The Jinmen marathon includes a 42.195-km full marathon, a 21.0975-km half marathon, and a 11.2-km road race, with respective registration fees of 400 yuan ($57.4), 300 yuan and 200 yuan, as well as a 5-km race which can be run for free.
A maximum total of 8,000 runners will run for the above three former events which starts on Feb 17, with the 5km race running on Feb 16 planning to host 11,000 participants.
Each participant will receive a bottle of famous Jinmen sorghum liquor as a souvenir.
The Jinmen Marathon, known as the sister of the Xiamen Marathon, has been held since 2008 on the same day as the Xiamen race.
However, in order to satisfy the demand of some runners to take part in both races, the 2019 Jinmen Marathon has been moved from January to February.
Jinmen, a county in Taiwan, lies only about two kilometers east of the Chinese mainland city of Xiamen, and boasts numerous historical sites, beautiful scenery and tasty delicacies. In 2012, the county was selected as one of the top 10 tourist counties in Taiwan.
