Kaiping Diaolou and Villages is a World Heritage site in Jiangmen. A diaolou is a multi-story tower-style building used for defense and living. The site consists of a complex and flamboyant fusion of Chinese and Western structural and decorative forms in the village setting. It also reveals the significant role the Kaiping people played in the development of several countries in South Asia, Australasia, and North America during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
