A special film and television festival aiming to promote traditional culture among juveniles and children came to an end on Oct 25 in Laoshan district of Qingdao, Shandong province.
The festival was jointly organized by the China Children's Film Association, the animation film working committee of the China Film Association and the Laoshan district government. Its closing ceremony was attended by more than 50 celebrities from the domestic film and television industry as well as cultural circles such as Tang Guoqiang, Zhao Baole and Xie Fang.
The event, which was initiated on April 27, was designed to select good stories and outstanding film and television works that are educational and express Chinese traditional values. The entries will be promoted through media platforms in a bid to advance traditional Chinese cultural education among the country's youth.
Yu Haoran, executive chairman of the organizing committee, said in a recent interview that a series of activities were organized during the festival to improve traditional Chinese culture awareness among the younger generation, including poetry recitations, cultural lectures, auditions for young actors and script solicitation.
"Stories, films and television works that embody traditional culture will be promoted," said Yu.
Yu added that traditional cultural education can enhance young people’s national and cultural identity.
At the closing ceremony, 10 animation films, 10 cultural films and 20 micro films were awarded and recommended.
